Bannister Academy is a small traditional school, but our class sizes, kept at 18-20 students per level, help us maintain a learning environment that is centered on our students. This way, we are able to provide a very personalized learning experience to our students through coaching while still maintaining the discipline and structure of a traditional class.
Bannister Academy is a K-12 compliant primary and secondary school. We offer classes for preschool (nusery, pre-kinder, and kinder), grade school (grade 1 to 6), and high school (grade 7 to 12).
Bannister Academy follows the international standards set by the PAIDEIA Group, an educational association based in the United States of America. Bannister is the only school in the Asia Pacific region with such an accreditation.
The Paideia Program, or simply Paideia, is an educational philosophy pioneered by Mortimer Adler in the United States. It seeks to bring back the democratic process in learning by giving students a personalized type of education. Following the Paideia Program, classes in Bannister Academy are normally divided into three (3) parts: lectures, coaching, and Paideia seminars.

The Paideia Seminar is an academic exercise where students are given a text (i.e. an article, a primary source, a work of art, a film, an invention, a mathematical concept, etc.) to process among themselves. In a seminar, the teacher takes a step back and it is the students who lead the discussion, following certain questions that the teacher gives. More often than not, the discussion takes a direction dictated by the students themselves. In these seminars, the teacher gives the students an opportunity to discuss big ideas or values relevant to the subject matter.
