Buwan ng Wika Culminating Activity

June 26, 2017

To conclude the Bannister Academy’s month-long celebration of Buwan ng Wika, the school invited guests to conduct activities for all of the students. Throughout the month, not only were the students encouraged to reacquaint themselves with the Filipino language, but they were also introduced to other aspects of the Filipino culture.

The Grade School students were treated to a storytelling activity by Adarna House. The selections from this activity were part of Adarna's repertoire of Filipino storybooks for children. It was indeed a fun and engaging activity for all as even the teachers took part in acting out certain parts of the story.

Mr. Joem Antonio, a Palanca Award-winning playwright and author of children's stories, conducted a workshop for the high school students entitled "Staging Philippine History in Theater". After a brief lecture, Mr. Antonio allowed the students to stage excerpts of his plays such as The Last Filipino.
